Konami announces Anniversary Collections for Castlevania, Contra and Arcade Classics

March 20, 2019 by Liam Waddington

To celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary, Konami have announced three bundles of anniversary collections for Castlevania, Contra, and their early arcade classics. The Konami Anniversary Collections will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch.

The first Anniversary Collection, titled ‘Arcade Classics’ will bundle eight of the company’s arcade games from the 1980’s. This compilation will be released digitally on 18th April and will include:

  • Haunted Castle
  • A-Jax (aka Typhoon)
  • Gradius
  • Gradius 2
  • Life Force
  • Thunder Cross
  • Scramble
  • TwinBee

Following the release of the Arcade Classics, Konami will be launching the Castlevania: Anniversary Collection in Summer 2019. The collection will also feature eight games but only four have been announced so far – Castlevania (NES), Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge (GB), Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse (NES), and Super Castlevania IV (SNES).

Lastly, Konami is also releasing Contra: Anniversary Collection in early Summer 2019. Again, featuring eight games with only four announced – Contra (arcade), Super Contra (arcade), Super C (NES), and Contra 3: The Alien Wars (Super NES).

Hopefully, Konami will reveal a Metal Gear Solid: Anniversary Collection in the near future.
