Controversial patch eight is out today for Fallout 76

April 9, 2019 by Patrick Nolan

If you’re looking for a reason to head back into post-apocalypse Appalachia, today is your lucky day. Patch eight is now available for Fallout 76 which comes with new content, fixes and balance changes.

One controversial new addition in the patch comes in the form of repair kits. These kits will allow you to repair your equipment without having to return to a crafting table; the kits themselves can be found as loot from defeated enemies. However, some of the kits can be purchased with real world money, in Fallout 76’s ‘Atom Shop,’ which has caused some people, especially on Reddit, to point out the dangers of a ‘pay to win’ environment being created in an online only video game.

A new dungeon has been added in the patch too. ‘The Burrows’ has players heading underground beneath Harper’s Ferry and following the trail of a missing Brotherhood of Steel expedition. This content is intended to be completed with a squad and will be available to play on the 16th of April.

There is also a new quest called ‘Lying Lowe’ which tasks players with investigating the mystery of the ‘Sheepsquatch.’ Other smaller additions are also arriving in the patch such as a in game camera mode, item renaming and faction vendor updates.

You can check out the patch notes yourself as well as the coverage of the recently added Survival Mode Beta and 2019 content roadmap too.
