The Russos play coy on the fate of Gamora in Avengers: Endgame

May 16, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Avengers: Endgame, are unsure about what happened to Zoe Saldana’s Gamora during the final battle.

One thing many expected to happen during Avengers: Endgame was that the characters killed by Thanos would return. This certainly happened and even Gamora returned – or at least an earlier version of the character before she joined the Guardians.

But what happened to her after the final snap? Was she dusted along with the rest of Thanos’ minions? Well, the Russos attempted to answer that question during an interview with Business Insider. Joe Russo said:

“We don’t know whether she was dusted or whether she survived. That’s probably a question that Guardians [3] will answer.”

Anthony added: “Quill doesn’t know either. I’m sure future films will answer that question.”

The two directors then said it would be up to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn to figure out. It will be interesting to see what Gunn decides to with Gamora as well as the rest of the crew, including the possible addition of Thor.

Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp), Letitia Wright (Shuri) and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie).
