Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston shatter Netflix records with Murder Mystery

June 20, 2019 by Gary Collinson

The Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston comedy Murder Mystery has proven to be a big success for Netflix, with the streaming service announcing that over 30 million subscribers tuned in to watch the movie in its first weekend.

🚨ADAM SANDLER AND JENNIFER ANISTON BREAKING NEWS ALERT🚨

30,869,863 accounts watched Murder Mystery in its first 3 days – the biggest opening weekend ever for a Netflix Film. 13,374,914 accounts in the US and Canada, and 17,494,949 more worldwide.

Although Netflix’s general policy is not to reveal viewing statistics, the company has started touting its successes in recent times, revealing that the Will Smith action fantasy Bright attracted 11 million subscribers in its first weekend, while the Sandra Bullock thriller Bird Box was viewed by more than 45 million accounts in its first week.

Murder Mystery marks the second pairing between Sandler and Aniston after Just Go With It, which grossed $215 million at the global box office back in 2011.

When an NYC cop (Adam Sandler) finally takes his wife (Jennifer Aniston) on a long promised European trip, a chance meeting on the flight gets them invited to an intimate family gathering on the Super Yacht of elderly billionaire Malcolm Quince. When Quince is murdered, they become the prime suspects in a modern-day whodunit. MURDER MYSTERY reunites Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston along with an ensemble cast of global talent.

Directed by Kyle Newacheck, Murder Mystery features a cast that also includes Luke Evans, Gemma Arterton, David Walliams, Luis Gerardo Mendez, Erik Griffin, John Kani, and Terence Stamp.
