Amazon’s The Wheel of Time adds five to its cast

August 14, 2019 by Ricky Church

After adding Rosemund Pike (Gone Girl) as the show’s lead, Amazon has announced five new additions to its series adaptation of Robert Jordan’s fantasy series The Wheel of Time. Joining Pike will be Madeleine Madden (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Zoë Robins (Power Rangers Ninja Steel), Barney Harris (Clique), Marcus Rutherford (Obey) and Josha Stradowski (Just Friends).

Along with the castings, Amazon revealed which characters the new additions will play. Madden will portray Egwene Al’Vere, Robins will play Nynaeve, Harris is Mat Cauthon, Rutherford will be Perrin Aybara and Stradowski is portraying Rand Al’Thor.

The Wheel of Time series consists of 14 volumes and a prequel novel, which have sold over 90 million copies around the world, and takes place in a world where magic exists, but only women are able to use it. The story follows Moiraine, a member of the all-female ‘Aes Sedai’ organisation, who embarks on a quest to find The Dragon Reborn, a mythical figure prophesied to fight The Dark One – possibly breaking the world in the process.

Rafe Judkins (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will showrun with Sony Pictures TV co-producing the series. Westworld and Jessica Jones director Uta Briesewitz will helm the first two episodes of The Wheel of Time. Rosamund Pike will also produce the series while Harriet McDougal, Jordan’s widow, will be a consulting producer for the adaptation.
