Patrick Warburton returning for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. final season

August 17, 2019 by Gary Collinson

During an appearance a the Dublin Comic Con this past weekend, actor Patrick Warburton has revealed that he’s set to return to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for its seventh and final season, reprising the role of Agent Rick Stoner.

“Yeah I’m coming back. I shot some stuff recently with those guys,” said Warburton via Comic Book Movie. “That was a lot of fun.”

Warburton appeared in the fifth season of The Avengers spinoff via archival footage, with his character being a General and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent from the 1970s.

Given that the final season is expected to see the team travelling through time in an effort to thwart an extraterrestrial threat, it would seem a pretty safe bet that Mack and company will bump into Stoner in his own time period.

Earlier in the week, it was also rumoured that Hayley Atwell will be making an appearance in the season, reprising her fan favourite role as Agent Peggy Carter.

The final season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to air on ABC in 2020 and features a cast that includes Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward
