Marvel’s Hawkeye enlists Mad Men writer as showrunner

September 8, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Having officially announced the series at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July, Marvel Studios has enlisted Jonathan Igla to write and executive produce the Jeremy Renner-healdined Hawkeye series for Disney+.

Igla was a writer and executive story editor on AMC’s Mad Men, while his other credits include Masters of Sex, Pitch, Shut Eye and Sorry for Your Loss.

The appointment rounds out the creative teams for Marvel’s first wave of live-action Disney+ shows, with Igla joining Malcolm Spellman (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Jac Schaeffer (WandaVision) and Michael Waldron (Loki) on the Phase Four series.

While details on Marvel’s plans for Hawkeye are being kept under wraps, it has been revealed that the series will see Renner’s Clint Barton serving as a mentor to Kate Bishop, a character introduced into the Marvel comic book universe in 2005 who takes on the Hakweye name as a member of the Young Avengers.

Hawkeye is slated to air on Disney+ in 2021.
