Poldark’s Aidan Turner joins Terrence Malick’s Jesus Christ film The Last Planet

September 30, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Poldark star Aidan Turner has become the latest addition to the cast of Terrence Malick’s Jesus Christ film The Last Planet, where he will portray the Apostle Andrew.

The film will see Son of Saul star Geza Rohrig as Jesus, with Mark Rylance (Dunkirk) portraying Satan. Also featuring in the cast – assuming they make it to Malick’s final cut – are Matthias Schoenaerts, Joseph Fiennes, Ben Kingsley, Douglas Booth, Tawfeek Barhom, Martin McCann, Ori Pfeffer, Shadi Mar’i, Makram Khoury, Numan Acar, Emilio De Marchi, Bjorn Thors, Alfonso Postiglione and Lorenzo Gioielli.

The Last Planet will “convey passages in the life of Christ through representing evangelical parables” and is in production now. Malick’s next film, the historical drama A Hidden Life, is set to release this December.
