Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis in talks for Penguin and Alfred roles in The Batman

November 5, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Warner Bros., DC Films and director Matt Reeves are about to round out the core cast of The Batman, with Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) and Reeves’ Planet of the Apes star Andy Serkis in final talks for the roles of Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin and Alfred Pennyworth respectively.

Should Farrell close his deal, he’ll join the previously announced Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as The Riddler and Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Catwoman as the Rogue’s Gallery for Robert Pattinson’s Batman debut (although it’s been rumoured that Firefly, The Mad Hatter and Two-Face could also feature in some capacity).

Serkis meanwhile will take on the role of Bruce Wayne’s loyal butler, joining Jeffrey Wright’s (Westworld) Commissioner Gordon as allies of the Dark Knight.
