George Miller says “there’s certainly another Mad Max coming down the pike”

December 11, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although director George Miller initially planned to follow up 2015’s acclaimed action blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road with at least one sequel, a legal dispute between the filmmaker and Warner Bros. over Fury Road finances appeared to put the brakes on any further outings for Tom Hardy’s Max Rockatansky.

However, with that now settled, Miller has revealed to Deadline that he’s already starting to prep for the next Mad Max movie, which he hopes to shoot once he completes his current project Three Thousand Years of Longing starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton.

“I’m not done with the Mad Max story and I think you have to be a multi-tasker and there’s certainly another Mad Max coming down the pike after this,” said Miller. “We’re in preparation on that as well.”

Earlier this year, Miller reaffirmed that he has plans for three different movies set in the Mad Max universe, stating that: “There are two stories, both involving Mad Max, and also a Furiosa story. We’re still solving, we’ve got to play out the Warners thing, it seems to be pretty clear that it’s going to happen.”
