Jack Black opens up about his early retirement plans, Jumanji: The Next Level may be his final film

Actor and musician Jack Black has opened up about his early retirement plans, claiming he originally intended for Jumanji: The Next Level to be his final film.

“Well, I’ve got another Tenacious D record that I’d like to make. Maybe one more movie,” Black told Balance. “I’m kind of enjoying the idea of early retirement… I’ve been saying for a long time that this is the last movie. We’ll see. I can’t really say what my next thing is because it’s too early; it’s a jinxer. I’ve got a couple of tricks up my sleeve. But not too many. I’m looking to wrap it up pretty soon. Ride off into the sunset.”

Black continued to explain his decision for early retirement stems heavily from him wanting to spend more time with his wife and children. Although, he would be open to doing TV work if the location was suitable for a better work-life balance.

“Yeah. That is a big part of it,” he says. “I don’t like going away from Tanya and the boys. I spend too much time away from home. Maybe I’ll do a TV show here in town, so I can work the 9 to 5 and then get back home.

However, Black jokingly compares his retirement plans to director Quentin Tarantino’s self-imposed ten film retirement, claiming the pair can ride off into the sunset together.

“I’m going to star in the final Quentin Tarantino movie and then I’ll ride into the sunset. Me and Quentin, riding off! Quentin hasn’t offered me the role yet, but I’m pretty sure it’s coming.

If Jumanji: The Next Level is to be his last film, Black would have had a very storied career in the film industry which started back in 1992 with his feature film debut in Bob Roberts. From there he gained leading roles in School of Rock, King Kong, Nacho Libre, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny, Kung Fu Panda, Goosebumps, and the two most recent Jumanji movies.
