New Ghostbusters movie titled Ghostbusters: Afterlife, first trailer classified

December 3, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we’ll soon be getting our first look at next year’s new Ghostbusters movie, with the British Board of Film Classification granting a 12A rating to the first trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

The film is being directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II director Ivan Reitman, and takes the series back to the continuity of the original movies.

While plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, we do know that Afterlife will focus on a family played by Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace. It will however feature the return of original Ghostbusters stars Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts.

As yet, there’s no word on when we can expect to see the trailer, but the smart money would suggest it’ll be attached to Sony’s Jumanji: The Next Level, which opens next week.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman and stars Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel), Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame), Bokeem Woodbine (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Celeste O’Connor (Wetlands), Oliver Cooper (Mindhunter) and newcomer Logan Kim, along with returning Ghostbusters cast members Dan Aykroyd (Ray Stantz), Bill Murray (Peter Venkman), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore), Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett) and Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz). The film is set for release on July 10th 2020.
