Florence Pugh, Shia LaBeouf and Chris Pine join Olivia Wilde’s psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling

April 24, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Olivia Wilde is returning to the director’s chair after her breakout hit, Booksmart. This time though, the actress-turned-director is tackling a much darker tale as Wilde will direct, produce and star in the 1950s-set psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling.

Joining her for this outing are some pretty big names as Florence Pugh, Shia LaBeouf and Chris Pine have all signed on to star. It’s reported that Pugh will lead the ensemble cast, playing the housewife. Little is known about the project other than its setting is an isolated, perfect community, set in 1950s California desert, and will center on a Pugh’s housewife character as she uncovers a disturbing truth about her seemingly perfect life.

No shooting schedule at the time of reporting, but New Line hopes to begin filming Don’t Worry Darling as soon as lockdown restrictions lift. Before the current global health crisis, the project was eyeing a late spring start.

Don’t Worry Darling was picked up by New Line last summer in what reports called “one of most competitive auctions of the year.” The buzz around the film was driven by the involvement of Wilde, who was coming off her acclaimed directorial debut.
