IFC Films has released a poster and trailer for director Jessica Swale’s upcoming drama Summerland. Set on the Home Front during World War II, the film stars Gemma Arterton as a reclusive writer who opens her heart to a young evacuee she finds her in the care; take a look here…
Alice is a reclusive writer, resigned to a solitary life on the seaside cliffs of Southern England while World War II rages across the channel. When she opens her front door one day to find she’s to adopt a young London evacuee named Frank, she’s resistant. It’s not long, however, before the two realize they have more in common in their pasts than Alice had assumed.
Summerland is set for release on July 31st and features a cast that also includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Tom Courtenay, Lucas Bond, and Penelope Wilton.
