HBO to offer Watchmen for free this weekend

June 18, 2020 by Gary Collinson

If you’re yet to catch Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen, or feel it may be a good time to revisit the acclaimed series, then HBO has announced it will be offering all nine episodes for free this coming weekend as an extension of the network’s content offering highlighting Black experiences, voices and storytellers.

A sequel to the iconic graphic novel from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, Watchmen takes place in an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws.

The series follows Angela Abar (Regina King), a masked detective in The Tulsa Police Force, who find themselves under threat from the white supremacist group the Seventh Kavalry. Also featuring in the cast are Tim Blake Nelson, Jeremy Irons, Jean Smart, Hong Chau, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Louis Gossett Jr. and Don Johnson.
