Lily James to play bank robber Peggy Jo for director Phillip Noyce

June 16, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Lily James (Baby Driver) is set for the title role in Peggy Jo, a crime drama from director Phillip Noyce (Salt) which is based on the true story of a bank robber who committed her crimes while disguised as a man.

“I have been looking to make a movie with Phillip Noyce for years and Peggy Jo is finally the one,” said producer Simon Brooks of Canyon Creek Films. “It is a great emotive and thrilling story that will capture audiences worldwide.”

“Peggy Jo is all about wanting more than your life presents to you and celebrates with a wink and a nod, many of our favourite films from the 70s through to the 80s, in tone, fun, music, colour and pure escapist entertainment, with a whole load of heart.”

James was recently seen in Richard Curtis’ Yesterday and next up is director Ben Wheatley’s Daphne Du Maurier adaptation Rebecca, where she stars alongside Armie Jammer and Kristin Scott Thomas.
