Shazam! director David F. Sandberg to helm horror film The Culling for Lionsgate

June 23, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation, and Shazam! director David F. Sandberg is set to helm a new horror project, titled The Culling, for Lionsgate.

According to Deadline, The Culling follows a troubled priest who confines himself to a remote cabin in the middle of the woods where he attempts to make a last stand against the demon that terrorized his family when he was a child.

Sandberg will be directing and producing The Culling through his newly formed Mångata production company alongside his regular collaborator Lotta Losten with a script written by Stephen Herman. The project will be released by Lionsgate with Good Fear Content producers Scott Stoops, Chris Bender, and Jake Weiner.

Although it has not been officially confirmed by Lionsgate or the director himself, we gather Sandberg will enter production on The Culling once he has filmed Shazam! 2, the follow-up to 2019’s superhero origin story, for DC and Warner Bros.
