Video Review – Shirley (2020)

June 10, 2020 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno reviews the new psychodrama thriller Shirley…

Elisabeth Moss is back with her second thrilling film this year after The Invisible Man, and she’s holding nothing back. Join our host EJ Moreno as he dives into the new horror-inspired thriller film, Shirley. From the obvious “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” vibes to the sexuality of a Tennessee Williams play, this is a must-see for fans of throwback cinema and horror. Shirley is one of the early awards contenders of the year as Moss is a shoo-in for any Best Actress conversations.

Renowned horror writer Shirley Jackson is on the precipice of writing her masterpiece when the arrival of newlyweds upends her meticulous routine and heightens tensions in her already tempestuous relationship with her philandering husband. The middle-aged couple, prone to ruthless barbs and copious afternoon cocktails, begins to toy mercilessly with the naïve young couple at their door.

Shirley is directed by Josephine Decker and stars Elisabeth Moss, Michael Stuhlbarg, Logan Lerman, and Odessa Young. It is now available on Hulu in the US and available for purchase everywhere else.
