The Walking Dead Onslaught gets a release date and gameplay trailer

August 14, 2020 by Andrew Newton

Survios and AMC have announced that their upcoming VR game, The Walking Dead Onslaught, will arrive on Playstation VR, Oculus Rift and Steam VR on 29th September, just before the finale to Season 10 of The Walking Dead on 4th October.  A new trailer has been released (see below) showing the zombie slaying action.

Set shortly before the Saviour War in Alexandria, The Walking Dead Onslaught puts players in the shoes of fan-favourite character Daryl Dixon through an intense campaign mode that follows his encounter with a mysterious stranger.

The game also features an infinitely replayable Scavenger Mode where players will take the roles of Rick, Michonne, Daryl and Carol to scavenge resources to build their community while encountering overwhelming amounts of the undead.  This mode will feature 24 different types of weapons including iconic weapons from the show and players can watch Alexandria grow and develop into a strong survivor fortress as they bring in more resources.

The Walking Dead Onslaught pushes the boundaries of VR combat physicality to its limits as players can shoot, sever, dismember and decapitate Walkers and thanks to the game’s Progressive Dismemberment System every attack of the player is realistically depicted on the target.

It has also been announced that there will be Deluxe and Survivor Editions which include additional bonuses and extras.  These include:

  • Digital Deluxe Edition: Includes Iconic Show Weapons Pack: Lucille, Rick’s Mace, The Red Machete and Tyreese’s Hammer, Alexandria Crafting Starter Kit, Mini-Soundtrack and Art Book. PS VR purchasers will also receive a special PS4 Theme and Avatar pack.
  • Digital Pre-Order Bonuses: Offers exclusive Sheriff Rick and Hunter Daryl character skins, Gold Katana and Gold Knuckle Knife weapon skins, and a pre-purchase discount on participating platforms.
  • Retail editions of the Deluxe Edition and Survivor Edition are available with the latter including an exclusive SteelBook and 1 of 5 Collectable Postcards.

The Walking Dead Onslaught arrives on the 29th September.
