Billions renewed for sixth season, Corey Stoll upped to series regular role

October 2, 2020 by Ricky Church

Showtime has renewed its hit series Billions for a sixth season, while TVLine has reported Corey Stoll, who was introduced in the first half of the series’ fifth season, has been upped to a series regular role for season six.

Stoll was introduced as Mike Prince, a “business titan and social impact pioneer” who came along to challenge Damien Lewis’ Bobby Axelrod and the power he holds.

Billions was still in production of its fifth season when it was forced to shutdown due to the global health crisis, but had already completed half of its season.

In the wake of the shutdown, Showtime decided to split season five into two parts, airing what had been shot as Part 1 with Part 2 set to air sometime in 2021. Season six will then follow the second half of season five.

In season five of BILLIONS, Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis) and Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) see their vicious rivalry reignited, while new enemies rise and take aim. Social impact pioneer Mike Prince (Corey Stoll) poses a true threat to Axe’s dominance, and Chuck feuds with a formidable district attorney. Taylor Mason (Asia Kate Dillon) is forced back to Axe Capital, where they must fight to protect their employees and their assets. Wendy Rhoades (Maggie Siff) reevaluates her loyalties and forges surprising new alliances that put her at odds with both Chuck and Axe. This season, the struggle for power becomes a struggle for survival, and all characters must adapt or risk extinction. Margulies will play Catherine Brant, an Ivy League sociology professor and bestselling author.
