AEW Games announces new console wrestling game and two mobile titles

November 11, 2020 by EJ Moreno

The world of video game wrestling is about to get All Elite. During the AEW Games 1.0 Special Event, the company known as All Elite Wrestling unveiled their upcoming line-up of projects, including the first-ever console game for the brand.

Said to be in early development, the console game for All Elite Wrestling will head to the current generation of consoles and the next-gen that includes Playstation 5 and the Xbox Series X. The game is said to be in the vein of WWF No Mercy, a wrestling video game hailed as one of the best of all time.

Wrestler and the man heading these projects, Kenny Omega, even announced that Hideki Iwashita, director of WWF No Mercy, is on board with the new game, which is being developed by Yukes, the developers behind many of the WWE Smackdown series, along with the WWE 2K series. Yukes left development after WWE 2K19.

Kenny Omega, joined alongside by fellow AEW talent Dr. Britt Baker, Cody, and Aubrey Edwards, also announced two mobile games – one of which features a long-requested game mode by wrestling fans, and that’s General Manager mode.

A game style long removed from the WWE games, AEW Elite General Manager will allow fans to take over AEW’s head booker’s role. Players will build a wrestling show and battle other people in the palm of their hand. Elite General Manager is described as an “evolution of the GM simulator genre.”

The other mobile game announcement was AEW Casino Double or Nothing. The mobile game, arriving this winter, features “AEW-branded versions of slots, blackjack, poker, and roulette, along with AEW music, sounds, videos, wrestler virtual avatars, gift packs and more.” According to the official description, players can win real AEW merchandise by playing various casino-related games.
