The Marvel Cinematic Universe or MCU is as revolutionary as it is sprawling- an amazing concept that borrows from the shared universe nature of the comics, putting multiple films in the same existing plane of existence.

And yet, it’s clear that Kevin Feige and his creative team have decided to embrace a mostly comedic template for the majority of their features. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, but the reality is it leads to a number of moments that seem funny on paper, yet end up being mirthless or downright cringey in execution. Here’s five of those moments…
