Daisy Ridley says she was described as “intimidating” on Chaos Walking set

Daisy Ridley has revealed her surprise at being described as “intimidating” when filming Chaos Walking with Tom Holland.

Thanks to her work on Star Wars as Rey, Daisy Ridley has become one of the most recognisable faces in Hollywood. Next March she will be starring in a slightly smaller sci-fi movie in Doug Liman’s Chaos Walking, alongside MCU star Tom Holland.

But to Ridley’s surprise, she has been described as “intimidating” on the set. Speaking to Tatler (via Yahoo), she said: “I’ve been told that I’m intimidating. That was on Chaos Walking. I was having my hair done, having my wig put on. I remember thinking, ‘God, should I be smaller? Should I be quieter?’”

She also added that she’s been told “My energy is ‘quite aggressive’” by a director, stating: “I was thinking: ‘But why? Is it because I maintained eye contact? Is it because I’m passionate about what we’re talking about?’ I dunno. You have that horrible sinking feeling of, ‘God, do I not come across the way I think I do?’”

Ridley clearly was taken off guard by being described this way and obviously wasn’t how she wanted to come across. At any rate, Chaos Walking has a lot of potential, and fans of Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman will surely want to check it out.

In the not too distant future, Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland) discovers Viola (Daisy Ridley), a mysterious girl who crash lands on his planet, where all the women have disappeared and the men are afflicted by “the Noise” – a force that puts all their thoughts on display. In this dangerous landscape, Viola’s life is threatened – and as Todd vows to protect her, he will have to discover his own inner power and unlock the planet’s dark secrets.

Featuring in the cast of Chaos Walking alongside Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley are Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Demian Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy), Cynthia Erivo (Widows), David Oyelowo (Selma), Nick Jonas (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), and Manchee the dog.

Chaos Walking is set for release on March 5th, 2021.
