Helen Hunt joins Blindspotting TV series

December 5, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Starz has announced that Oscar-winner Helen Hunt (As Good As It Gets) has joined the cast of the upcoming TV adaptation of Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs’ critically acclaimed film Blindspotting.

Blindspotting centers on Ashley (Jasmine Cephas Jones) who is nipping at the heels of a middle class life in Oakland until her partner Miles ( Casal) is suddenly incarcerated, leaving her to navigate a chaotic and humorous existential crisis when she is forced to move in with Miles’ mother Rainey (Hunt). Rainey is a woman who has strong opinions and holds family above all else.

“It is such an honor to have Helen Hunt in this series,” said Casal, who is writing and executive producing the series with Diggs, as well as having a recurring role. “We became friends after she tweeted about her love of the film and we have long looked for a project to do together. She has been our first choice for the character Rainey since we dreamed this show up.”

Blindspotting is being produced by Lionsgate Television for Starz and Starzplay International.
