Matthew Vaughn is planning seven more Kingsman films and a TV series

December 8, 2020 by Liam Waddington

It seems like the Kingsman franchise isn’t going anywhere anytime soon as, per Deadline, Marv Group CEO Zygi Kamasa has stated that director Matthew Vaughn is planning “something like seven more Kingsman films” as well as expanding the comedic spy-thriller series into a TV series.

“We want to grow the business and the output,” Kamasa told the Winston Baker UK Finance Summit late last week. “We have a Kingsman TV series in the works and there are two-three other franchises that are being developed alongside the Kingsman world.”

While Marv produces the Kingsman movies, the franchise rights rest with 20th Century Studios, who is now a division of Walt Disney Studios following The Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019.

So far, the Kingsman franchise, which consists of 2014’s Kingman: The Secret Service and its 2017 sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, has grossed over $825 million at the worldwide box office. A prequel, titled The King’s Man, is set to debut in February 2021 after being delayed due to the ongoing global health crisis. Two more films are currently known to be in development including Kingsman 3 which will once again follow Taron Egerton’s Eggsy, and a spinoff focusing on the American spy agency, titled Statesman.

The upcoming instalment in the franchise, The King’s Man, is set to tell the story of the origins of the independent intelligence agency Kingsman as a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions. Matthew Vaughn has previously stated that the prequel will set up the next chapter of Eggsy’s story in Kingsman 3.

The King’s Man is directed by Matthew Vaughn and features a cast including Ralph Fiennes, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Rhys Ifans, Gemma Arterton, Charles Dance, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Djimon Hounsou, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Stanley Tucci, Alison Steadman, Robert Aramayo, Alexandra Maria Lara, and Joel Basman.
