Matthew Vaughn’s The King’s Man delayed to August

January 23, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman prequel The King’s Man has now received its fifth delay as Disney has pushed back the release of the film from its planned March 12th release date to August 20th, 2021.

The film was initially scheduled to debut back in November 2019 before being delayed to February 2020, September 2020, February 2021 and then to the aforementioned March 2021 date. These frequent delays have been the result of either The Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox or due to the ongoing global health crisis which caused movie theatres to shut their doors around the world.

The King’s Man is set to tell the story of the origins of the independent intelligence agency Kingsman as a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions. Matthew Vaughn has previously stated that the prequel will set up the next chapter of Eggsy’s story in Kingsman 3.
