Charlie Day and Jenny Slate to headline Amazon’s ensemble rom-com I Want You Back

February 23, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

It’s been a while since we had an ensemble comedy in a similar vein to Love, Actually, He’s Just Not That Into You, or Valentines Day, but it appears that Amazon are attempting to do just that with I Want You Back, and have tapped It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Charlie Day and Venom’s Jenny Slate to star.

Deadline reports that they will join Gina Rodriguez (Miss Bala), Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place),  and Clark Backo (Happy Place) in a film directed by Jason Orley (Big Time Adolescence) and written by the co-showrunners of This Is Us, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.

According to the article, I Want You Back “will focus on Emma (Jenny Slate) and Peter (Charlie Day) who thought they were on the precipice of life’s biggest moments – marriage, kids, and houses in the suburbs – until their respective partners dumped them. In their thirties and terrified that they have missed their shot at happily ever after, Emma and Peter are horrified to learn that their partners have already moved on. With no prospects on the horizon and the threat of dying alone hanging over their heads, they hatch a desperate plan to put an end to their exes’ new relationships and win them back.”
