Sonic the Hedgehog 2 gets April 2022 release date, Jason Momoa rumoured for Knuckles

February 10, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Paramount Pictures has announced that it has set an April 8th 2022 release date for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the foll0w-up to last year’s live-action/CG-animated video game adaptation; check out the title treatment here which teases the inclusion of Tails, a character who popped up in the post-credits scene of the first movie…

Meanwhile, if a rumour from The Illuminerdi is to be believed, Tails won’t be the only video game character appearing alongside Sonic in his second big screen adventure, as the site claims that Aquaman star Jason Momoa is wanted to lend his voice to Knuckles. This isn’t the first time that Knuckles has been linked to the sequel, and the outlet claims that an offer is currently out to Momoa, so perhaps we’ll get confirmation soon.

The first Sonic the Hedgehog was released just prior to the pandemic and grossed just short of $320 million at the global box office. Ben Schwartz voiced Sonic, with James Marsden as his human pal Tom Wachowski and Jim Carrey as the evil Dr. Robotnik.
