Rumour: Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi to appear in Star Wars: Andor

March 6, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Ewan McGregor is set to make his return to the galaxy far, far away when production on the hotly-anticipated Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi gets underway this year, but if a new report is to be believed we’ll be getting another appearance from the Jedi Master before his solo series debuts on Disney+.

According to a rumour from The Illuminerdi, McGregor is set to appear as Ben Kenobi in the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel series Star Wars: Andor, in what is being described as a recurring role. It’s unclear exactly how (and why) he’ll feature into the series, which like Kenobi takes place in the gap between Episodes III and IV, with the Jedi Master in exile on Tatooine as he watches over young Luke Skywalker.

Andor is currently in production in the UK, with Diego Luna reprising his Rogue One role as the rebel spy Cassian Andor, while Kenobi will shoot this Spring in Los Angeles and not only sees the return of McGregor, but also his Prequel Trilogy co-star Hayden Christensen who will be back as Darth Vader for a “rematch” with his former Master.

Star Wars: Andor features returning Rogue One stars Diego Luna (Cassian Andor) and Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma), while Star Wars newcomers include Adria Arjona (6 Underground), Stellan Skarsgard (Chernobyl), Denise Gough (The Kid Who Would Be King) and Kyle Soller (101 Dalmatian Street).
