Elizabeth Banks to voice Pebbles in The Flintstones animated sequel Bedrock

April 27, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Are you ready to head back to the prehistoric world of Bedrock? Fox and Elizabeth Banks are hoping as they will attempt to bring this property back for a whole new generation.

Banks will star in and serve as an executive producer of an update of the classic Flintstones series, which will be set 20 years after the original 1960s series and see Banks voicing a now-adult Pebbles Flintstone.

Lindsay Kerns, writer on Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and DC Super Hero Girl, will pen the pilot script. There’s no director attached to the project at the time of writing.

“Long before the Simpsons and Springfield, the Griffins and Quahog or even when the Belchers started serving burgers on Ocean Avenue, there were the Flintstones and Bedrock,” said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn. “Their imprint on the animation universe is undeniable, and the idea of adapting it for today’s audience is a challenge we here at Fox are very much looking forward to taking on with Warner Bros., Elizabeth, and Lindsay. No pressure whatsoever, really.”

The official log-line notes that Bedrock “will follow a 20-something Pebbles as she begins her own career while her dad, Fred, nears retirement. With the Stone Age giving way to an enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.”
