Emilia Clarke joins Marvel’s Secret Invasion

April 20, 2021 by Ricky Church

Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion has just added Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke into its growing cast according to Variety.

She’ll join the previously announced Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Olivia Colman in the series. Jackson and Mendelsohn will reprise their MCU roles as Nick Fury and Talos, while  Ben-Adir has signed on to play the villain of the series. The roles for Colman and Clarke are currently being kept under wraps.

Little is known about Secret Invasion, but it will centre on Fury and Talos, who met during the events of Captain Marvel, along with shape-shifting Skrulls who have infiltrated Earth. Last time we saw Nick Fury and Talos was in the post-credits scene for Spider-Man: Far From Home where it was revealed Talos had taken Fury’s place on Earth while Fury seemed to be on some mission with the Skrulls in outer space. The finale of WandaVision also hinted at Fury’s mission and Secret Invasion as a Skrull revealed herself to Teyonah Parris’ adult Monica Rambeau with an invitiation from Fury to join him in space.

The series is seemingly inspired by the 2008 event series of the same name where the Avengers discovered the Skrulls had been invading for years, quietly kidnapping several of Earth’s mightiest heroes and assuming their identities until the perfect time to fully strike.

Secret Invasion will be written and executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet.
