Knuckles spotted on the set of Sonic the Hedgehog 2

April 21, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Sonic the Hedgehog overcame a redesign and the start of a pandemic to gross $319 million at the global box-office. Now that the world is slowly emerging from lockdown at a speed on the opposite end of the scale to SEGA’s iconic blue erinaceinae, filming has begun on the sequel, and it has given us our first glimpse at the character of Knuckles.

We’d already seen Two-Tails during the first film’s credit sting, but this is our first look at Knuckles, who’s rumoured to be voiced by Jason Momoa. The red sparring partner of Sonic the Hedgehog first appeared in 1994’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on the SEGA Genesis, before getting headline billing alongside his rival for the follow-up, Sonic and Knuckles.

Jeff Fowler is back in the directors chair again having made his debut on the well-received original, with Ben Schwartz returning to voice Sonic, alongside James Marsden’s Sheriff Tom, and Tika Sumpter as his wife Maddie. Filming is currently underway in Vancouver.

Let us know what you think of the design for Knuckles and how excited you are for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
