Universal and Working Title developing The Borrowers reboot

April 28, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Those little people are heading to the big screen once again with the news that Universal and Working Title are developing another adaptation of Mary Norton’s 1952 novel The Borrowers.

Adapted multiple times for film and television, most notably the 1997 John Goodman vehicle, and 2010’s sumptuous Studio Ghibli masterpiece Arrietty, The Borrowers tells the story of tiny people who live secretly in the walls and floors of an English house, who borrow knickknacks from the big people in order to get by.

According to Deadline, Sausage Party and The Addams Family’s Conrad Vernon is on board to direct, and he’ll be working from a screenplay written by Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway scribe Patrick Burleigh.

Are you excited about seeing a fresh take on The Borrowers, or would you rather they remain stuck beneath the floorboards? Let us know by heading over to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
