Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Hannah John-Kamen cast as the new Red Sonja

May 5, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

After what seems like an eternity, Millennium Films have finally found their Red Sonja in the form of Ant Man and the Wasp and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’s Hannah John-Kamen.

The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed that John-Kamen will wield the sword for Joey Soloway’s take on Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith’s Conan the Barbarian character.

Red Sonja first appeared during the early 70s in comics such as ‘The Song of Red Sonja’ and ‘The Shadow of the Vulture’, but perhaps her most iconic iteration is the one portrayed by Brigitte Nielsen in Richard Fleischer’s 1985 movie.

On finally finding their lead actor, Soloway said “Hannah is a very talented actress who we’ve been following for years and she IS Red Sonja. Her range, sensibilities and strength are all qualities we have been looking for and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this journey together.”
