Colin Trevorrow says Jurassic World: Dominion was inspired by Jason Bourne and James Bond films

June 11, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Colin Trevorrow, the director of Jurassic World: Dominion, has teased that the upcoming third film in the trilogy was inspired by spy movies, specifically the Jason Bourne and James Bond franchises.

“I’m sure it’s no secret that we shot in the UK, we shot in British Columbia. We shot in Malta. And those are essentially representing our locations. There’s another major location that I don’t want to disclose just yet. But there’s any environment you can imagine, ecological environment, physical environment that you can think of, it’s represented in this movie, [because it] is a big globe-hopping adventure. It’s got a little bit of Bourne and Bond and a bit of a spy movie thrown into it too. Spy movie, science thriller with dinosaurs,” Trevorrow said in an interview with Collider.

Although plot details are still being kept under wraps, Trevorrow has previously stated that the returning original trio of Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern will have significant roles in Jurassic World: Dominion – rather than short cameos like Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Trevorrow returns to direct Jurassic World: Dominion, which features a cast that includes franchise returnees Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Justice Smith, Danielle Pineda, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy and Isabella Sermon along with new additions DeWanda Wise (She’s Gotta Have It), Mamoudou Athie (Patti Cake$), Scott Haze (Venom), Campbell Scott (House of Cards), and Dichen Lachman (Altered Carbon). The film is set to be released on June 10th, 2022.
