Loki director Kate Herron not returning for season 2

July 17, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Although Marvel has confirmed that the Loki Disney+ series will return for a second season, director and executive producer, Kate Herron, has revealed that she won’t be returning to direct the follow-up season.

“I’m not returning,” Herron said in an interview with Deadline. “I always planned to be just on for this, and to be honest, Season 2 wasn’t in the — that’s something that just came out, and I’m so excited.”

Herron added that she’ll be working on “yet to be announced” projects, however, when asked whether one of those projects is Marvel-related, she clarified that her time with the studio is done with for now.

“No, I’m just focused on my own stuff at the moment,” said Herron. “I love Marvel and I’d love to work with them again, but my outing with Loki is what I’ve done with them.”

Marvel Studios’ “Loki” features the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Loki features a cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sasha Lane, Wunmi Mosaku, Deobia Oparei, Jack Veal, and Richard E. Grant.
