Marvel’s Black Panther 2: Winston Duke confirms M’Baku return for “really special” sequel

July 20, 2021 by Liam Waddington

With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever — the highly anticipated sequel to the Oscar-winning Black Panther — officially starting production at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta last month, Winston Duke, who plays M’Baku, has confirmed his return in the “really special” sequel.

“It was very emotional to read the script. It was emotional to pack to go back to set. But we’re all a bit of a family now and we grieve together, and we’re making something really special,” Duke said in an interview with Collider.

While plot details are currently being kept under wraps, rumours have suggested that Wakanda could find itself at war with Namor the Sub-Mariner and his Atlantean army, however, this is unconfirmed by Marvel.

SEE ALSO: Black Panther 2 has had at least five scripts, says Angela Bassett

Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett are all expected to reprise their respective roles from the original film, while director Ryan Coogler is returning to helm the sequel from his screenplay.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently scheduled for release on July 8th, 2022.
