Chloe Bennet exits The CW’s Powerpuff Girls series

August 12, 2021 by EJ Moreno

The CW’s Powerpuff Girls will need a new Blossom. Variety reports that Chloe Bennet has exited the upcoming live-action adaptation of the hit cartoon series.

Reports say that Bennet did not sign her new offer due to scheduling issues. The series is currently being redeveloped, and production had extended past when the actress initially thought. Casting for a new Powerpuff girl will begin in the fall.

Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault are still attached to play Bubbles and Buttercup at the time of reporting.

We reported months ago that Powerpuff was undergoing significant changes following a pilot episode that didn’t work for the network. At the time, The CW’s Mark Pedowitz told reporters: “We believe in the cast and in [writers Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier] and [executive producer Greg Berlanti] and studio Warner Bros. In this case, the pilot didn’t work. Because we see enough elements in there, we wanted to give it another shot. It may have felt a little too campy and not rooted in reality.”
