Lucasfilm is reportedly looking to cast live-action Sabine Wren for Star Wars: Ahsoka series

August 12, 2021 by Liam Waddington

With the Star Wars: Ahsoka series currently in development at Lucasfilm, it is being reported that the studio is looking to bring a fan-favourite Star Wars Rebels character to live-action.

While reporting on Marvel’s What If..?, The Hollywood Reporter mentioned that sources connected to Lucasfilm have confirmed the studio is looking for an actress to play Mandalorian Sabine Wren opposite Rosario Dawson’s titular character.

The possible casting of Sabine Wren may not come as a surprise to some as not only is Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni involved with the project, which will further blur the lines between animation and live-action, but the beloved Star Wars animated series concluded its fourth and final season with Ahsoka and Sabine beginning their journey to find the Jedi Ezra Bridger – who jumped into hyperspace during his battle with Grand Admiral Thrawn.

While the plot and release details are still being kept under wraps, there have been rumours that Aladdin‘s Mena Massoud has been approached to play the live-action version of Ezra and Lars Mikkelsen is also being rumoured to reprise his role as Thrawn after voicing the character for two seasons of Rebels. However, neither Lucasfilm nor Disney has currently confirmed these casting speculations.
