Melissa McCarthy faces grief and a territorial bird in The Starling trailer

August 25, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Melissa McCarthy is always looking for her next big hit, and Netflix is giving the star her next attempt in this touching new film.

McCarthy stars in The Starling, the new film from the Hidden Figures filmmaker Theodore Melfi, which follows “a woman adjusting to life after a loss contends with a feisty bird that’s taken over her garden — and a husband who’s struggling to find a way forward.” Check out the trailer here…

After Lilly (Melissa McCarthy) suffers a loss, a battle with a territorial bird (The Starling) over dominion of her garden provides an unlikely avenue for her grief and the courage to heal her relationships and rediscover her capacity for love.

The film features an all-star cast of Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, Kevin Kline, Timothy Olyphant, Daveed Diggs, Skyler Gisondo, Loretta Devine, Laura Harrier, Rosalind Chao, and Kimberly Quinn.

The Starling will debut in select theaters on September 17th, 2021, and for Netflix on September 24th, 2021.
