The Witcher: Blood Origin fills out cast as production begins

August 20, 2021 by Gary Collinson

With production now underway on The Witcher: Blood Origin in the UK, Netflix has filled out the cast of the upcoming live-action Witcher prequel series with the addition of several new faces.

As reported by Deadline, Lenny Henry (The Lord of the Rings) has been cast as Balor, with Mirren Mack (The Nest) as Merwyn, Nathaniel Curtis (It’s A Sin) as Brian, Dylan Moran (Black Books) as Uthrok One-Nut, Jacob Collins Levy (Young Wallander) as Eredin, Lizzie Annis (Night Growler) as Zacaré, Huw Novelli (The Capture) as Callan “Brother Death”, Francesca Mills (Harlots) as Meldof, Zach Wyatt (Karen Pirie) as Syndril, and Amy Murray as Fenrik.

The new cast additions join previously announced leads Laurence O’Fuarain (Vikings), Sophia Brown (Marcella) and Michelle Yeoh (Crazy Rich Asians), which takes place 1200 years before the events of Netflix’s Henry Cavill-led series and will “chart the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal ‘Conjunction of the Spheres’, when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.”
