Emma Corrin to lead limited series Retreat from The OA’s Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij

October 12, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Emma Corrin is set to follow her award-winning turn as Lady Diana in The Crown, and Netflix’s adaptation of D.H. Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover, with the new FX series from the creators of The OA.

As per Deadline, Corrin is set to take the lead role in Retreat, a series created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the genius duo behind Netflix’s cruelly cancelled sci-fi show The OA. Corrin will reportedly play Darby Hart, the amateur sleuth at the center of a murder mystery set at a secluded retreat.

Marling and Batmanglij will write and direct the series, which is described as a radical conceptualization of the whodunit with a new kind of detective at the helm — a gen Z amateur sleuth named Darby Hart (Corrin). Darby and 11 other guests are invited by a reclusive billionaire to participate in a Retreat at a remote and dazzling location. When one of the other guests is found dead, Darby must fight to prove it was murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life.

If it’s anything like The OA, then you can expect Marling and Batmanglij to double-down on the ‘radical conceptualization’ aspect of that synopsis.
