Post-apocalyptic colony survival game Surviving the Aftermath releases this November

October 28, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Paradox has announced that their colony survival game Surviving the Aftermath will be launching on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch on 16th November and also be leaving early access on PC.  Gamers on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will also be able to enjoy this post apocalyptic survival thanks to forward compatibility.

In Surviving the Aftermath a catastrophic event has happened and resulted in the total collapse of civilisation as we know it.  As one of the survivors it is up to players to build a thriving colony and restore some sort of order to a devastated world.

The world isn’t the peaceful place it once was and there are many hazards that lie in wait to destroy a founding colony, these include natural disasters, rampant diseases and the worst of all, bandits.  To survive, players will need to ensure they have fortifications, weapons and specialists to help a growing population.  Colonists will also need to be sent beyond the relative safety of the walls to seek out resources, build outposts, meet other colonies and more.

Surviving the Aftermath features:

  • Build and manage a colony of survivors and construct more than 130 buildings.
  • Recruit over 80 unique specialists that have their own skills and motivations.  Outfit these with gear to help them survive and defend the colony.
  • Specialists will discover mysteries in the world which can lead to uncovering secrets about the apocalypse.
  • A procedurally generated world will create a new experience every game.
  • Make tough choices between the colony’s happiness and survival.

“After 20 major content updates focused on expanding gameplay mechanics and addressing player feedback, Surviving the Aftermath has evolved greatly from the version of the game that launched into Early Access two years ago,” said Lasse Liljedahl, Game Director for Surviving the Aftermath “I don’t think I’ve ever worked on a game where the community was as integral to development as it has been for Aftermath. Truly, every decision, change, and addition we made stemmed from our community feedback – if we could put them all in the credits we would! They had just as much a part in development as we have.”

Surviving the Aftermath launches on PC and consoles on 16th November.  PC gamers can get a 25% discount until 1st November on Steam.
