Sylvester Stallone wraps The Expendables 4, says goodbye to franchise

October 21, 2021 by Gary Collinson

The Expendables 4 only started shooting a couple of weeks ago, and it seems one of the OG cast may find themselves Expendable in this latest instalment as Sylvester Stallone has taken to Instagram to announce that he’s already wrapped filming as Barney Ross and is “moving on” from the action franchise.

“It’s time to be moving on,” states Stallone. “This will be my last day, so I’m enjoying it but it’s always bittersweet, you know… When something you’ve been so attached to, I guess it’s been about 12 years, and I’m ready to pass the baton on to [Jason Statham] and his capable hands.”

Stallone co-created the series and has led The Expendables in all three previous instalments. He originally pulled out of a fourth movie due to creative differences and disagreements with producer Avi Lerner back in 2017, although he announced the following year that he’s be returning to the series for a fourth mission.
