Jordan Peele’s Nope wraps filming, Hoyte van Hoytema confirmed as cinematographer

December 2, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Variety is reporting that Jordan Peele’s next film, titled Nope, has recently wrapped principal photography whilst also confirming that Oscar-nominated cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema had been brought onto the film.

Nope was shot on KODAK film, including 65mm film in IMAX format, which makes sense with the hiring of van Hoytema as he has been the go-to cinematographer for Christopher Nolan, having collaborated with the director on Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet, and the upcoming Oppenheimer.

Although plot details are currently being kept under wraps, we do know that the film is written and directed by Peele. The cast is set to include Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), Keke Palmer (Hustlers), Steven Yeun (Minari), Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria), Brandon Perea (The OA), and Michael Wincott (The Crow, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves).

The film is part of a deal with Universal Pictures, which also distributed Peele’s Us and Get Out. Peele is producing alongside Ian Cooper of the director’s own production company Monkeypaw Productions. Nope is currently scheduled to debut in theatres on July 22nd, 2022.
