Batgirl movies adds to its cast as set photos tease Batman, Robin, Black Canary, Vicki Vale and more

January 14, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

With filming now underway on HBO Max’s Batgirl movie, THR is reporting that the Warner Bros. and DC Films production has added three new cast members with Rebecca Front (Avenue 5), Corey Johnson (Morbius) and Ethan Kai (Killing Eve) joining Leslie Grace’s Barbara Gordon in the superhero adventure.

Batgirl is currently shooting in Glasgow, Scotland under directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys For Life), with Grace leading a cast that also includes J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Michael Keaton as Batman, and Brandan Fraser (Doom Patrol) as the movie’s villain, believed to be Firefly.

As yet, there’s no word on character details for any of the three new additions, although online chatter has linked former Emmerdale actor Ethan Kai to the role of Dick Grayson/Nightwing, who has been heavily speculated to appear in the film in the wake of the first Batgirl set photos, which include a mural of Batman and Robin as well as various references to the likes of Black Canary (who has her own HBO Max movie in the works), Vicki Vale, Hugo Strange and The Court of Owls.

Whether these point to possible character inclusions, or are simply just background Easter eggs, we shall have to wait and see, but you can check out a selection of the set photos here…
