Marvel enlists Moon Knight directors for Loki season 2

February 23, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Owen Wilson revealed last week that the second season of Loki is set to begin production “pretty soon”, and now comes word that Moon Knight directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are set to return to the MCU to direct the “majority of episodes” of the God of Mischief’s sophomore season.

The entire first season of Loki was directed by Kate Herron, who revealed back in July that she wouldn’t be returning for the second season and “always planned to be just on for this [first one].” Original head writer Michael Waldron is returning, albeit as executive producer alongside star Tom Hiddleston, while Eric Martin has written all six episodes, having penned two in the first season.

Benson and Moorhead’s past credits include the recent reboot of The Twilight Zone, as well as Archive 81. The duo were brought in to direct two episodes of Moon Knight, with Marvel said to have been so impressed by the pair’s work on the upcoming show that the studio immediately wanted them involved with another project.

Details on Loki season 2 are being kept under wraps for the time being, although it has been confirmed that Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Owen Wilson (Mobius M. Mobius) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Judge Ravonna Renslayer) are returning.

The first season of Loki is available to stream now on Disney+.
