Harry Hamlin joins Alexandra Daddario in Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches

March 26, 2022 by Ricky Church

Deadline reports AMC has tapped another actor to join Alexandra Daddario in their Anne Rice adaptation Mayfair Witches. Harry Hamlin (Mad Men) is set to star alongside Daddario in the series as the leader of the power Mayfair clan.

Mayfair Witches follows an “intuitive young neurosurgeon who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.”

Hamlin will play Cortland Mayfair, the “current reigning patriarch of the Mayfair clan with a voracious appetite for more money, more power and more life.”

AMC purchased the rights to Rice’s two series The Lives of the Mayfair Witches and The Vampire Chronicles in 2020. Mayfair Witches is being developed by Mark Johnson, Rice’s son Christopher Rice, Esta Spaling and Michelle Ashford. Spalding will serve as showrunner while she and Ashford will write and executive produce the series. Anne Rice will also be named an executive producer in a posthumous credit after her passing in December 2021.

“From Mad Men to Mayfair, we’re delighted to have Harry back at AMC joining a cast that will bring to life the captivating world and cast of characters that Esta, Michelle and Mark have beautifully adapted for our second series in the Anne Rice universe,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “Harry is an immensely talented and seasoned pro and we can’t wait to see what he’ll bring to the intricate role of Cortland Mayfair.”

Mayfair Witches has been given an eight-episode order for its first season and will premiere on AMC and its streaming service AMC Plus in late 2022.
