Warner Brother’s upcoming Barbie movie, which is set to be directed by Greta Gerwig (Little Women) and star Margot Robbie (The Suicide Squad), has added Will Ferrell and Sex Education’s Emma Mackey to its cast.
Both actors roles in the film are currently being kept under wraps but it is being reported that Ferrell is potentially playing the CEO of a toy company that may or not be Mattel.
Ferrell and Mackey join the previously announced Margot Robbie as Barbie, Ryan Gosling (Blade Runner 2049) as Ken, Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Kate McKinnon (Bombshell), America Ferrera (Superstore) and Ariana Greenblatt (Love and Monsters).
Although plot details are unknown, we do know the live-action adaptation of the iconic toy line is being directed by Greta Gerwig from a script she’s co-written with Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story). Robbie is producing the film under her LuckyChap Entertainment production banner along with LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley, Robbie Brenner of Mattel and David Heyman of Heyday Films.
