Olivia Thirlby joins Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer

April 17, 2022 by Gary Collinson

At this point, it’s becoming easier to list the actors that aren’t involved with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, but despite the fact that cameras have already been rolling for a couple of months the fan-favourite filmmaker continues to expand the high profile cast of his J. Robert Oppenheimer movie.

The latest addition to the cast is Dredd and Y: The Last Man actress Olivia Thirlby, who has joined the project in an undisclosed role and stars alongside Nolan regular Cillian Murphy as theoretical physicist Oppenheimer, who led development on the atomic bomb as part of the Manhattan Project during World War II.

Also featuring in the ensemble cast are Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Casey Affleck, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich, David Dastmalchian, Olli Haaskivi, Jason Clarke, James D’Arcy, Michael Angarano, Guy Burnet, Danny Deferrari, Matthias Schweighöfer, Gary Oldman, Harrison Gilbertson, Emma Dumont, Devon Bostick, Trond Fausa, Christopher Denham and Josh Zuckerman.

Christopher Nolan is directing Oppenheimer from his own script. It marks his first feature for Universal Pictures and is currently slated for release on July 21st 2023.
